about

Ever since the success of their self-titled debut, which was driven by fan-favorite song "Nation Under God", Cardinal Sin has been out to prove that they are no fluke. Just after the release of "Cardinal Sin" in May 2018, singer/guitarist Will McElwee recruited Chase Pendleton to take over on the kit, and the two clicked instantly. The newly formed songwriting duo of McElwee and Pendleton quickly jumped to the studio to work on their first masterpiece together, and being heavily influenced by blues and jazz respectively, set out to create a sound that had never been heard before. So, McElwee tuned down his guitars and cranked up the volume while Pendleton stripped down the kit to a mere 4-piece to let his influences shine. McElwee's high-ranged, Staley-esque vocals, along with his guitar work, which pays homage to greats like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix, combined with Pendleton's jazzy rhythmic genius and distinct playing style seemed to create exactly what they were looking for. They had found their sound, and now it was time to make it whole. So, the two decided to recruit Pendleton's longtime friend Jake King to play the bass. The chemistry they had built over the years in previous acts instantly carried over into Cardinal Sin, and they created an unmistakably unique rhythm section. This seemed to be the perfect chain of events for Cardinal Sin, who are now ready to unveil the new era of hard rock and metal for the next decade. "Lucified" is still only the beginning for the trio. As McElwee belts in "Ragin' 20s", "Cardinal Sin's just warming up, we've yet to kick your ass!"
